Evan M. Brown is the Head Choral Director at R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton, Texas. During her six years at Turner, the choir program has doubled in size with her choral culture of excellence, hard work, and kindness. Choirs under the direction of Mrs. Brown have consistently received "sweepstakes" awards at UIL Contest and her students have been successful at Solo and Ensemble, Region, All-State Choir competitions.

 

Prior to teaching at Turner, Mrs. Brown served as the Associate Choral Director and AP Music Theory Instructor at Newman Smith High School in CFBISD for five years. In her first year of teaching, she served as the Assistant Choral Director at Bowman and Murphy middle schools in Plano ISD, where she was named "Best Beginning Teacher of the Year."

 

As a vocalist, Mrs. Brown led the alto section at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration for six years, twice touring to England. She is currently a section leader at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. In addition to performing, she is a dedicated adjudicator and clinician, as well as the President of TMEA Region 31. Her professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and American Choral Directors Association.

 

Mrs. Brown earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of North Texas. She lives in Carrollton, Texas, with her husband Max, and beautiful two-year-old daughter, Charlotte.
